Johnny’s Dad Is Called Into The Headmasters Office
Little Johnny’s dad is called into the headmaster’s office because of his son’s misbehavior.
He arrives ten minutes late.
“Sorry I’m late, Mrs Deeny. I had a bit of trouble finishing some polishing at work.”
Mrs Deeny looks up from her desk.
“Polishing? What do you polish?”
“Doorknobs,” he replies proudly. “I work at a doorknob factory. You wouldn’t believe how important shiny knobs are!”
Mrs Deeny sighs. “Well, I suppose someone has to do it.”
“Oh, absolutely,” Dad says. “Last week I nearly lost my job because I forgot to polish the knobs before the boss arrived!”
Mrs Deeny raises an eyebrow.
“But that’s nothing compared to Johnny,” he continues. “Yesterday I caught him sneaking into the kitchen.”
“What was he doing?” asks Mrs Deeny.
“He was trying to feed the cat a whole sausage!”
Mrs Deeny gasps. “A whole sausage?”
“Yes! And the cat ran off with it. Johnny chased the cat around the house for ten minutes!”
Mrs Deeny shakes her head.
“That boy is certainly energetic.”
“Oh, you haven’t heard the best part,” Dad says.
“What happened?”
“When I finally caught Johnny, he looked at me and said…”
Dad pauses dramatically.
“‘Dad, can we keep the cat? He’s really good at stealing breakfast!’”
Mrs Deeny bursts out laughing.
“I think,” she says, “we may have finally discovered the real problem.”
Dad nods.
“Yep. Johnny needs a hobby!”
